Month -10 (Counting down to 0)
Thursday, November 1, 2007 at 08:39 Whooohooo! I can see some definite progress! I think the scale I've been using is kookoo though. This weekend it said I was at 128, and yesterday it said I was at 137, I guess that's what you get when you buy a $5 scale from Target. I might be going in to see my doc next week, so maybe I can get a good weigh-in from her. Even with the week off of working out due to the fires and the poor air quality, I can feel that I've lost some weight. For those of you who ride bikes, you'll know about how when you hunch forward to ride, you can feel your belly (if you've got one) protrude out. I've noticed my protrusion is a lot smaller, which is awesome. Even if I haven't lost that much weight, it's good to know that I'm losing fat, but gaining muscle.
I am worried about what my decision to become an egg donor will do on my weight loss. I'll have to start taking birth control pills, and then fertility drugs starting tomorrow and I know that I could get some temporary weight gain from the pills and injections. I'll just have to keep reminding myself that it's only temporary, and then get right back on track. If there's anyone out there that is reading this that has been an egg donor before, I'd love to know more about your experience. I'm donating through Fertility Futures and Growing Generations, and they've been pretty great so far. I also get a referral bonus for any ladies who might sign up with them, so let me know if you're interested (you can live in almost any state of the U.S.)
To those of you who are trying to lose weight with me (Erin, Sariah, and mystery Dieter), let me know how you're doing!

Still doing good....lost 15 lbs in the last month and over 4 inches. Although I am "cheating" in a way. Although I don't have much more to lose it just wasn't coming off quick enough so I found a local weight loss clinic to help me. I'm taking prescription appetite suppressants every day while eating a very healthy diet. Also doing a shot of HCG everyday which burns abnormal fat and helps you lose weight without losing muscle. It sounds sketchy but it's actually a very nice program. They did almost 2 hrs of nutritional counseling with me my first visit and it's all monitored by a doctor. I really just needed someone to show me how to eat healthy (and enjoy it)....and they have done that. They also offer free lifetime maintenance after I am done with the program....so I can keep the weight off.
:)
Wow, that's a crazy amount of weight to lose in a month, is that healthy? Are they monitoring stuff like your heart rate and blood pressure? And how cool that they offer the lifetime of follow up maintenance.
As to learning how to eat healthy, there are plenty of cookbooks, books, and websites out there, but I've found that a change of lifestyle is your best bet. When I wanted to be a vegan I was really only successful when I had vegan friends and roommates. Likewise with healthy eating, you should surround yourself with friends and a lifestyle that equates to 'healthy' as well.
It worked for me! Good luck, and keep us posted Mr./Mrs. Mystery Man/Woman!
It's healthy:) I go in weekly for weigh ins and they monitor my blood pressure, etc.
I'm also taking a daily vitamin, calcium, and chromium...which has really regulated my blood sugar.
As far at the lifestyle change...we are working on it. Growing up in the South did NOT help me with my eating habits. Everything that I love is horrible for you :)
