Suddenly Seven Months

Cora has been seven months old for the past six days. Seriously? How did that even happen?

None of the pictures in this post are of her at seven months though, because frankly, I'm still reeling from all of her accomplishments during her sixth month of life.

Unassisted sitting. Wow. Granted, she still falls backwards and bonks her noggin, but look at my baby playing with the big kids.

Flipping onto her belly. Whenever she feels like it.

No time for a diaper change mom. I've got stuff to figure out.

Grabbing EVERYTHING. If she can see it, she wants it. Watch your earrings ladies. And your glasses and your eyeballs...

Cora was six months old when she pronounced her first words. "All done." The first time Eric and I heard it we just looked at each other, shook our heads and said, "No way."

Then my mom visited and Cora said it in front of all three of us. My mom said I was talking at six months, but Cora has yet to grace us with those pretty words again. Oh, her little voice was divine.

She props her gorgeous feet on everything.

There is no more back sleeping. It's butt up in the air or on her side. Always changing the rules on us, this wee one is.

She also successfully slug-crawls. It's usually in her sleep.

She sleep-crawled from the head of the v-berth all the way into the forecastle. A true boat lass.

Snuggly moments like this one with her Aunt April are now few and far between. She's got to move people. She has places to roll to. Things to put in her mouth. Books to bang around.

Everything is an exploration.

And we CLEARLY need a bona-fide lee cloth for her bunk.

Some of my favorite moments are feeding her. She snuggles close and I can kiss her as much as I want.

She can now show complete absorption in a task. It is fascinating to watch.

Cora was six months old when she really, truly looked at me for the first time. It was a late evening and I was working up in the shop. We sat together on her blanket as I sewed some cloth wipes. She reached over, tugged my arm, and then peered steadily into my eyes. It was a really intense moment for me. Like she was acknowledging that I was there. That she loved me. I thought my heart was going to burst.

I don't know how else to describe it, but month six? Yeah, it was awesome.

I just want to snuggle her, she is divine.
Kitty is a month and half away from turning one, but who's counting? I both look forward to it and dread it as well. This delicious time of BABY is rushing by so quickly...
