San Diego is Burning :(

1161984-1109439-thumbnail.jpgIf you've been following the news, San Diego has been burning since Sunday. We've got about 8 active fires in San Diego and so far 500,000 people have been evacuated because of the flames. It's times like these that it makes you feel happy to live on a boat! All of my family is safe, but a TON of our friends have had to leave their homes and because of the heavy smoke they don't know if their homes are okay.  Please send good thoughts, prayers (whatever you believe in :) to those people who are currently displaced.

1161984-1109435-thumbnail.jpgThe air quality is pretty horrendous, as you can see from this satellite image. I can't imagine what it's like for people even closer to the fires. Eric and I are using Claritin and Alavert, and Eric's had to use his inhaler a bunch too. If I move too fast, I feel dizzy and my arms are slightly tingly (Eric says from lack of oxygen due to all of the other particulates in the air.) I think it might be worse for use because we don't have an 'indoors' place to go to. We have no screens on the boat, nor a front door, so we're open to the elements. Everything is coated in a fine layer of ash, even the top of the water.  School was closed today and it will be closed tomorrow as well. It might even be closed all week.

To anyone who is affected directly, my thoughts and well wishes are with you. I'll keep you updated as things progress.

I really wanted to email you about this as I saw the news and was really concerned about the city and the people living there. One of the first thoughts I had was that I was so glad you were living on a boat!!!! Where are the fires exactly? Are they close to my beloved Golden Hill?
