The shine is from the epoxy; it has yet to be painted. -
Scarf Repair
This is the primary scarf joint repair that was made. It's a 16 foot long piece of spruce (the lighter colored wood) that has been scarfed into the existing mast. There was a section of rot at the mast head, and a bad repair from the previous owner (using Gorilla Glue and screws, rather than a proper scarf repair). Both of those sections were cut out, and the new piece of spruce replaces them both.

Scarf Repair Again
Another view of the repair. A proper scarf joint is incredibly strong, but also very difficult to do. -
Mast Head Top Down
A top down look at the mast head before any hardware has been placed on. -
Mast Head Port
A view of the port side of the mast head. Note the lighter wood color from the repair. -

Spreader Position
This is a view of where the spreaders fit in, and also the spreader light wires. A piece of conduit was run through the mast, replacing loose wires. An additional line was run through, making future additions much easier.
